Hope
I look out across the verdant fields and am awed-
The splendor of the spring flowers, the azure of the sky, and
The lazy sunbeams scattered here and there.
I feel at home and comforted, like this is the only place
I can be, here and now.
The scents of lavender and honeysuckle sear the air-
I fall asleep, my dreams as restless as the drifting clouds.
I wake to see the softening pigments in the sky.
I gather my things to go, wishing that hope could be
As simple as a lovely day, treading gently into the night.
Author Biography: I have been writing poetry since I was in college. It is so freeing for me to be able to release my thoughts into words when it is often so difficult for me to do so otherwise. I love reading and writing poetry and feel that each work inspires you to understand your self better.
